Questions people ask
What ID do I need?
Each signer needs a current government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, state ID card or passport. If a signer has no ID, ask about credible witnesses.
Should I sign my document before you arrive?
No. Fill everything in, but wait to sign until Patricia is there. You must sign in front of her. Blank spaces can be a problem, so complete the document first.
Can you help me fill out my document or tell me what it means?
No. Patricia doesn't draft documents or give legal advice. Your attorney or the document's issuer does that. Bring your completed documents, and she'll notarize them.
Does my document need witnesses?
Some do, like certain wills and healthcare documents. Check the document or ask whoever prepared it. If it needs witnesses, arrange them before the appointment and let Patricia know.
How much do notary services cost?
Nevada law (NRS 240.100) sets the fee for each notarial act. For example, an acknowledgment is $15 for the first signature of each signer, and a jurat is $15 per signature. See the full list on fees.
Is there a travel fee?
Yes, for mobile visits. It's explained and agreed with you before she heads out, and Nevada law caps it. See fees.
Do you come to hospitals and nursing homes?
Yes. The signer needs ID and must be alert and willing to sign. Call the facility about visiting rules first. See hospital and nursing home visits.
What are your hours?
Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 1 to 6 p.m. Closed Sunday. Outside these hours? Call or text and ask.
Can you come today?
It depends on her schedule and your location. Call or text with what you need and she'll tell you honestly.
Do you speak Spanish?
Yes. Patricia speaks English and Spanish. Preguntas frecuentes en español.
Do you do apostilles?
Yes. Apostilles start at $290 for the first document, with state fees included. The final price depends on where the document was issued and where it's going. See apostilles.
Do you offer remote online notarization?
Not yet. Patricia is commissioned for RON in Nevada and finishing training on a RON platform. Call to ask. Meanwhile, she comes to you. See remote online notarization.
Can you certify a copy of my birth certificate?
No. Nevada notaries can't certify copies of birth, death or marriage certificates or divorce decrees. Order certified copies from the office that issued them.
